After the standard resume review/questions.. ask him point blank, directly
"Why should we hire you?"... listen carefully to his answer... it will tell you a lot about his attitude, preparedness, confidence, ability to sell, etc.
If he says, "I think I'm a good fit" or "I;m great and awesome" ... move on to the next guy.
If he tells you something very specific, relevant to the position, and reflective of a successful past performance for him... he is probably your guy
